  • Date: August 17, 2024

On August 17, 2024, Samsung officially unveiled the Galaxy Z Fold 6, the latest addition to its foldable smartphone lineup. The new model brings significant advancements in both hardware and software, aiming to set new standards in the foldable phone market.

The Galaxy Z Fold 6 features a 7.6-inch QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X main display with a 120Hz refresh rate, offering a stunning visual experience with smooth scrolling and vibrant colors. The cover display is a 6.2-inch HD+ AMOLED screen, also with a 120Hz refresh rate, providing a seamless experience whether the phone is opened or closed.

One of the standout features of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 is its improved hinge design. The new hinge is engineered to be more durable and provide a smoother folding action, reducing the crease on the main display. This enhancement is a response to user feedback on previous models, aiming to offer a more refined foldable experience.

The phone is powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, coupled with 12GB of RAM and up to 1TB of internal storage. This high-performance setup ensures that users can handle demanding applications and multitask with ease. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 also supports 5G connectivity, ensuring fast and reliable internet speeds.

In terms of photography, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 is equipped with a triple-camera system on the rear: a 50MP main sensor, a 12MP ultra-wide lens, and a 10MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. The front-facing camera is a 10MP sensor, located on the cover display, while the under-display camera on the main screen is a 12MP sensor. These camera upgrades allow for high-quality photos and videos, whether the phone is folded or unfolded.

Battery life has also seen improvements, with the Galaxy Z Fold 6 featuring a 5,000mAh dual battery setup. This battery supports 50W fast wired charging and 25W wireless charging, ensuring that users can quickly recharge their devices. Additionally, the phone supports 15W wireless power share, allowing users to charge other Qi-compatible devices.

The Galaxy Z Fold 6 runs on Android 14 with Samsung's One UI 6, which includes enhancements tailored for foldable devices. Features such as Flex Mode, which allows the phone to stand on its own for hands-free video calls, and Multi-Window mode, which enables users to run multiple apps simultaneously, are designed to maximize the potential of the foldable form factor.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 will be available for pre-order starting August 24, 2024, with a starting price of $1,799. The phone will be offered in several color options, including Phantom Black, Mystic Silver, and Cream.
